Recursion (Build 12.31.22)
A downloadable game for Windows
What is this game you've got here?
This is a work drawing inspiration from several of my favorite rogue-like games - Hades, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire and applying those themes with an FPS, similar to the gunplay of games such as Doom and Wolfenstein.
Like all Rogue-likes, the player starts off at a "hub", with access to a few basic weapon choices to begin their attempt with. Each attempt is divided into three "acts" with each terminating with a boss fight.
Should the player complete an act, they will be presented with choices for an upgraded version of the weapon they chose from the hub. These upgrades come in the form of adopted characteristics from the other basic weapon choices that - when combined - form an entirely new weapon (potentially) playstyle.
Additionally, the player will gain access to a 'utility' in their off-hand. This comes in the form of a grenade launcher, which can change form - should the player specialize into that.
Inputs are intended for Mouse & Keyboard, however controller inputs are listed in the instructions too but are untested.
Roadmap:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gYbtwy2q-VcSpGVdwGuYkpQxgdfn99vnS5y_65L0fOc/edit?usp=sharing
(This is not clean but more so where I put my thoughts on things to develop).
Known bugs:
- Rare, but fatal bug on map load - random error with EncouterManager.
- Ability to "Reload" a weapon with a full magazine.
- Mashing RMB on the Sniper scope will cause it to stick on zoom. To correct, fully hold down RMB for a second or two, then release.
- Swapping "Armed" Weapon Animation States (Sword to 1-handed gun to 2-handed, etc) when picking up a new weapon will some times not register until the player clicks LMB and/or Reload.
